FAQ's
What should I wear and bring?
Hiking boots or good walking shoes are a necessity year-round. Other essentials include a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses. In winter, gloves and other cold-weather attire are essential.
A waterproof jacket and a backpack will come in handy; if you don't have a backpack, we are happy to lend you one. We also provide the use of rain ponchos, snowshoes, trekking poles and gaiters.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear layers in case you get too warm or cold; the temperature in the alpine is typically 5°c - 10°c cooler than in the village.
What if it's raining?
Our tours run rain or shine and we provide ponchos to help keep you drier. The mountains are awesome in any weather!
How hard are the tours?
That depends on the tour. Our hiking tours range from easy strolls to challenging scrambles; if you have any concerns please feel to let us know. We are happy to listen to your needs and suggest a tour best suited to you.
Do I have to worry about bears?
Not really. Whistler is home to Black Bears but they are primarily interested in foraging for food and generally avoid contact with people as much as possible.
Will I see a bear?
You might, but don't expect to. It is almost impossible to tell when they might appear.
What kinds of animals will I see?
You are likely to spot Squirrels, Marmots, Pikas, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Red Tailed Hawks and Deer.
Should I bring lunch or a snack?
We will provide you with food; a healthy, fresh lunch on longer excursions and a snack on shorter tours. You are certainly welcome to bring yourself additional snacks. If you have any allergies or dietary concerns, please let us know when you book your tour so we can accommodate you accordingly.
Should I bring a water bottle?
It is definitely a good idea to bring water. Many of our tours can be very warm on sunny days and it is easy to build up a thirst quickly. We will provide each tour participant with a bottled water, but if you would like more, we suggest you bring some of your own too.
I am a strong hiker; do you offer tours that will still challenge me?
